Story Time Resources

Story telling is an essential component of our language ability as humans. The capacities to sequence events, anticipate happenings and empathise with other people/characters are vital skills for children to develop. Oral skills are an essential foundation to written story-telling activities, and for those who are able to join in, story time can be one of the most rewarding of interactive activities.

The resources in this section can provide an excellent visual support for those children who would otherwise struggle to access stories of longer length and complexity. Other than that, we can assure you that the resources are great fun!

The puppets listed below would be useful to focus a large group, (for example at the end of a stay and play session), or a small group, (children in a family group in an education setting, or in a Speech Therapy session). A word sheet is provided, so sets could be used in toy libraries, or for workers who want to encourage parent-child relationships in the home.
